    A visão do planeta terra visto do espaço é maravilhosa; mas quando mostra aridez do deserto do Saara me deixa triste . São 9.2 x 10^6 km ^2 de areia, calor ( e frio a noite),é um grande desperdício. O verde acalma o espírito.

    O nosso planeta é lindo! ❤ E olhar de cima dele, nos daz refletir o quanto somos apenas uma espécie num globo maior do que qualquer coisa imaginável no nosso cotidiano, todos os problemas que temos, todas as conquistas que alcançamos e todos os nossos preconceitos estão firmados nesse planeta... E infelizmente a nossa mesquinhez faz-nos querer dividir a humanidade em pequenos blocos divididos por linhas imaginarias e sem nenhuma demarcação real naturalmente delimitada! 🤔 Como disse, nosso planeta é lindo!❤

    • @astronauticast
      @astronauticast 6 дней назад

      No, the ISS "drifts" about 16° every day, so the pass is not exactly the same. You can use a smartphone app (like ISS Detector) to track the pass over your location.

    wow - looks like about 200km wide and high field of view - starting from the south-west corner of Australia, and going north-east, crossing the coast again at about the Queensland/Northern Territory border, then crossing the northern tip of Queensland, and Papua New Guinea somewhere near Lae before clouds obscure the end. Nice view thanks !

    is it a timelapse or just realtime footage? it went 4000km roughly in 4 mins. circumference of earth is 40,000km so it would take 40 minutes to orbit earth. from memory it actually takes ISS 90 minutes to orbit, so this might be 2x speed. but my measurement of the distance it travelled and time it took isn't exact, so I'm unsure. was this sped up?

    • @astronauticast
      @astronauticast 8 дней назад

      Hi! Look at the title of the video: it is a timelapse. As already answered in other comments, this timelapse is 3 times faster than the real time, which is about 10 minutes.

      Hi Rod! The ISS orbits at 51° and therefore never passes over the poles. From an altitude of 400 km, astronauts looking towards the horizon can barely see lands at + or - 70°, but not beyond.

    It takes around 5 hours to fly across from Perth to Queensland. The first time we drove across in 1970 it took us a week due to the 300 miles of unsealed road and only one driver, but we have done the trip in 3 days with several of us driving day and night.

      around 1986 I won a uni raffle prize of an unlimited mileage 14-day Ansett-Pioneer Aussiepass (bus ticket) and took it during July uni holidays from Melbourne to Adelaide, Perth, up the west coast of Australia to Broome and Darwin, down to Alice Springs, then back to Adelaide and Melbourne - something like 15,000km in 14 days. The red centre felt so spiritual - I have a small jar of that orange brown sand (rich with iron ore).
